What to do When You Need Hail Damage Repair
The man above has a penchant for frozen drinks and likes to mix them up in some places more than others. If you find that your car has been caught in a heavenly ice shaker and is now in need of hail damage repair, you can call C&D Dent Guys. If you have a few minor dents you think can take care of on your own, however, here are a few tips.
Use Heat for Hail damage Repair
For this method, you can do one of two things. The first is to park your car in a sunny spot and leave it for the day. If that is not possible, or you do not want to wait that long, you can use a hair dryer on each individual dent. But be careful not to overheat to the point that the paint begins to peel. If this happens, use some wax or a rubbing compound to restore the paint’s color.
Either way, once the surface is toasty warm, apply dry ice to the dents. The difference in temperature should cause them to pop out. However, dry ice can damage your skin, so you should be sure to wear gloves when handling it. Also, be sure to move the ice around the dented area in order to rapidly cool the dented area.
Hail Damage Repair Kits
If heat and dry ice do not completely remove the dents, there are a variety of kits available at your local car care and big box stores. Most can be reused and are usually comprised of simple and cheap tools that use suction to remove dents. They are common for those not experienced with self-repairs. There are also other types of kits that use suction and a glue gun to remove the dents. These kits generally require more patience and steps. However, usually have better results and use an arched bridge system combined with a safe adhesive.
Professional Hail Damage Repair
Your best bet, though, is to get your damage professionally repaired. If you have insurance that covers hail damage, you can contact them and file a claim. Dent repairs are inexpensive to fix. If you ask the body shop personnel to use used parts, this will also reduce your expenses. Having professional hail damage repair done ensures the cleanest job, especially for deep dents or badly damaged surfaces.
We recommend trying to park your car in a shaded or covered area as open spaces will leave your car helpless against the wrath of this natural phenomenon. This is especially true during the time of year when hailstorms are commonplace. If you are going to be out of town for an extended period of time, be sure that your car is parked in an enclosed area. In addition, try to have someone check it every so often. We know, though, this isn’t always an option. So if you do fall victim to hail damage, we’re here to help. If you are in the El Paso area and are in need of hail damage repair for your car, contact C&D Dent Guys.
